LOVE: Give a Dog a Home
It’s L-O-V-E month and I’ve already posted some inspirations for date dresses, online sales, jewellery & accessories, homewares and photography gifts.
But, my heart is breaking over these gorgeous dogs who are seeking a home. Nothing can ever replace a pet’s love. If you are considering getting a pet as a gift to yourself or a loved one this Valentine’s Day, why not consider helping one of these dogs by adopting it from The Lost Dog’s Home. The shelters as part of The Lost Dog’s Home also have cats who are looking for a loving home.
The thing that saddens me about gift giving over the festive season is when these loyal creatures are tossed aside as if disposable and unimportant. Consumerism by way of gift giving is way out of whack when there is no consideration for a life that is involved.
I urge you to never rush into buying a puppy, no matter how big it’s puppy dog eyes are (or that of your partner’s pleading eyes). It’s a long-term commitment and should never be taken lightly. It pains me to hear of people who just abandon their dogs because they suddenly find the responsibility inconvenient.
The love and commitment of these animals is truly a magnificent gift. I’m going to give mine a hug once I’ve finished typing this. And on Valentine’s Day my husband and I will not only celebrate our love, but the love for and from our adorable dog. (Just as I’m typing this my dog is making cute yelps as he dreams. Precious.)
These dogs are awaiting homes in shelters in New South Wales and Victoria. If you want to learn more about the dog, click on it’s photo to be taken to it’s profile page. If the link doesn’t work it means that the dog has been removed from the database and has found a loving home. Don’t take this the wrong way, but I kind of hope none of the links work then! Or that you find your little furry piece of heaven to shower your love upon for this Valentine’s Day and many many more.
