Interview – Travel Light(er) with Natty Michelle

April 27th, 2010 — 7:00am

I love seeing what my gorgeous girlfriends have in their bathroom bags. I love to see what hair, makeup and skin care products they use. Chatting while one or both of you do your makeup is great fun and a chance to share tips and secret super products!

From that I’m now curious as to what others pack when travelling. My goal next time I travel is to pack much lighter but still with a fashionable wardrobe.

Here’s my interview with the lovely Natalie from Atlanta, Georgia USA. Her blog Natty Michelle shows gorgeous images of thrifted and antique finds, interior decoration, planning her wedding and lovely little bits of life.

Where have you been?
I have visited LA, San Diego, and San Francisco in California, New York City, DC, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Miami, every Southern state in the US and the Bahamas. For my upcoming honeymoon on a cruise through the eastern and western Caribbean, we will visit Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Grand Turk, Jamaica, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I am so excited!

What was your favourite destination/holiday and why?
I love big cities; San Francisco, NYC, and Chicago are my favourites. Cities just have a great vibe; lots of interesting people, lots of things to do, and lots of neat things to see.

What are your secrets to keeping your baggage to a minimum?
I am actually pretty good at packing! I lay out my outfits before I decide what I’m
bringing, and if I’m going for longer than a week, I try to stick with only brown accessories or black (belts, shoes, etc.) – it helps with space!

What bag/brand do you recommend for packing your belongings in?
James just bought a Columbia luggage set, and it is the best. There is even a pocket inside the luggage for dirty clothes so they don’t get anything that is
clean smelly!

What fashion staples and looks do you stick to when travelling?
Dresses that are made of polyester/spandex are great – they don’t wrinkle and take up minimal space.

What do you buy when you get there instead of carrying it in your baggage?
A Diet Dr. Pepper and a good book or magazine!

What do you throw away/donate before you return home?
Empty toiletries or magazines that I’ve finished.

Any other travel tips / secrets you would like to share?
Invest in a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release! A couple of sprays on a wrinkled area and a brush of your hand over it, and the wrinkles are gone. That stuff is the best!

Thanks Natty!
Next time I travel I will get a bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release
or our Australian equivalent!
